Outdoor Fireplaces in Dallas-Fort Worth

Full masonry outdoor fireplaces with a working chimney. Built on a proper footing in stone that handles the heat and the freeze, so it anchors the yard for decades.

An outdoor fireplace is the anchor of a backyard, and it is a real masonry build, not a weekend add-on. That is exactly why it is worth getting the crew right. A fireplace is a tall, heavy structure with a working firebox and chimney, and if the footing, the flue, or the materials are wrong, you get smoke blowing back at you, cracked stone, or a lean within a few seasons. We build them to last and to draw properly the first time.

The build starts below grade. A fireplace this size needs a reinforced footing sized for the weight, or the whole structure settles and cracks. From there we build the firebox in fire brick, run a correctly sized flue and chimney so the smoke pulls up and out instead of into your seating, and clad the structure in your chosen stone. We follow NFPA clearances throughout, and the firebox materials are rated for direct flame, not just decorative.

On materials, the structure is usually natural stone, brick, or a manufactured stone veneer over a block core, with a hearth and a mantel if you want one. We match the stone to your existing coping, patio, or home exterior so the fireplace reads as part of the house, not a kit dropped on the slab. Gas, wood-burning, or a gas-start wood setup are all options. Many of our fireplaces tie into a covered patio or a seating wall, which is where they look best.

A masonry fireplace is a different cost class than a fire pit. Most full outdoor fireplaces run $8,000 to $25,000 and up, driven by the chimney height, the footing, the masonry volume, and the stone you pick. A larger fireplace with a tall chimney, a wood storage box, and premium stone runs higher. We measure and give a fixed number on site. The build typically takes 1 to 2 weeks.

If you want an open gather-around feature instead of a built wall structure, a fire pit is the lower-cost route. Fireplaces also pair naturally with an outdoor kitchen on the same wall and with new patio stone, and doing it as one project keeps the materials and the timeline together. We build outdoor fireplaces across Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and Frisco, starting with a free on-site estimate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Most full masonry outdoor fireplaces run $8,000 to $25,000 and up. The chimney height, the footing, the masonry volume, and the stone choice drive the number. A larger fireplace with premium stone and extra details runs higher. We quote a fixed price after we see the space.

A fireplace is a tall built structure with a chimney that anchors a wall, blocks wind, and directs heat one way. A fire pit is open and lower cost and gathers people in a circle. A fireplace costs more because of the footing, flue, and masonry. If you want a wall focal point, build the fireplace. If you want to sit around it, build the pit.

Yes, when the flue and chimney are sized and built right, which is the part cheap builds get wrong. A correctly proportioned firebox and flue pull the smoke up and out instead of back into your seating. Getting that ratio right is most of why a real masonry fireplace costs what it does.

Most run 1 to 2 weeks on site, including the footing cure, the firebox and chimney, and the stone cladding. Larger fireplaces or ones tied into a kitchen or patio build run on the combined timeline.
