Much of Fort Worth's west side sits on shallow limestone, which gives the slab a more stable base than the clay elsewhere in the county, so more west-side decks are sound underneath and good candidates for a coating or overlay over surface spalling and hairline cracks. Where a slab has actually cracked through or heaved out of level, a coating will crack again along the same joint, and we tell you straight when a section needs full replacement instead.
