Patios
Patio Builder in Dallas-Fort Worth
Paver and natural stone patios, built on a real base with drainage so they hold for decades instead of cracking in a few seasons.
A patio is the highest-impact backyard upgrade most DFW homeowners make. We build and replace patios across the metro in two material families: pavers and natural stone. Which one is right comes down to look, budget, and how much maintenance you want, and we tell you straight which fits your yard at the estimate.
Pavers are the practical, flexible pick for our soil. Concrete pavers run about $10 to $18 per square foot installed, with a wide range of colors and patterns; brick pavers cost a bit more for a classic warm look. Unlike a poured slab that cracks in a hard line when the ground shifts, individual pavers move independently and stay tight, and a damaged paver lifts out and gets replaced without tearing up the whole patio. A typical 300 to 500 square foot paver patio runs $4,500 to $12,000 installed.
Natural stone is the custom, one-of-one look. Flagstone runs about $12 to $22 per square foot installed for a rustic, earthy surface that handles heat and freeze well. Travertine runs $14 to $28 and is the premium pick: it stays cooler underfoot, reads high-end, and matches travertine pool coping so the patio and pool edge look like one space, though it wants resealing every 2 to 3 years here. Bluestone and Oklahoma stone run $18 to $35 for a true one-of-one finish.
Whatever the surface, the patio is won or lost on the base underneath. A patio laid on bare dirt cracks and heaves within 2 to 3 years. We build every one on a compacted aggregate base, or a mortar bed for some stone, with a slight slope away from the house and edge restraints that lock everything together, so Texas downpours run off instead of pooling. We also do not install stamped concrete as a primary surface; it cracks within 3 to 5 years and pavers cost about the same and last far longer.
A patio usually attaches to other work. Doing it alongside an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a retaining wall, or matching pool coping carries the materials through, keeps one crew on it, and usually saves 15 to 25 percent versus separate jobs. We cover all of DFW, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and Frisco. Every project starts with a free on-site estimate, samples brought to the property.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
A typical 300 to 500 square foot paver patio runs $4,500 to $12,000 installed. Natural stone runs higher: flagstone about $12 to $22 per square foot, travertine $14 to $28, bluestone $18 to $35. The biggest cost driver is the base prep underneath, not the surface. We give line-item pricing at the estimate.
Pavers for a lower cost, fully repairable surface that flexes with the soil. Natural stone, flagstone or travertine, for a custom one-of-one look and a higher-end feel at a higher cost. We bring samples of both to the estimate so you see them against your house.
For DFW soil, yes. A poured slab cracks in a hard line when the ground moves. Pavers flex independently and stay tight, and a damaged paver lifts out and gets replaced without redoing the whole patio. Pavers also resist cracking far better than stamped concrete for similar money.
A standard residential patio, 300 to 600 square feet, runs 5 to 8 days on site. Larger or coordinated scope with a kitchen or fire feature runs 2 to 3 weeks. We give firm start and finish dates at the estimate.
Yes. Tear-out, proper base prep, drainage correction, and a new paver or stone install as one project. The old base usually is not salvageable, and a full rebuild gives you decades instead of another few years.
