Fire Pits in Dallas by Lalo's Tile & Coping

A fire pit is the easiest way to make a Dallas backyard usable on the cool nights that run from October into March. We build them across Lakewood, the M Streets, Preston Hollow, Bluffview, and the rest of the city. Most owners want the same thing: a place to sit outside with the family that looks built into the yard.

Natural gas is the pick for most Dallas homes. Gas service is usually already at the house, so a licensed plumber runs a short line while we build the stone. No smoke to manage, no wood to store, just turn a key. Wood-burning still fits larger Preston Hollow and Bluffview lots with room to keep it clear of the house. Propane works where there's no gas line at all, fed from a hidden tank.

We build the surround in natural limestone, travertine, stacked stone, or concrete pavers, matched to your existing patio. The fire sits in a steel burner pan set so the stone never takes the flame directly, which is what keeps a Dallas pit from cracking after the first hard freeze.

Built-in versus freestanding usually comes down to the lot. Smaller Lakewood and M Streets yards often do better with a compact built-in pit or a low gas fire table. Bigger yards can carry a full circular pit with room to walk around it. Either way, we keep the pit clear of the house, the fence, and any cover, which is one more reason gas tends to fit tighter lots.

A seat wall around the pit is what makes it feel finished. A low stone wall on two or three sides gives you built-in seating and ties the pit into the patio so it reads as one space.

Most jobs take three to five days on site, whether it's a built-in gas pit with a stone surround or a simpler freestanding gas fire table. We measure your yard and give you a fixed price at the free estimate, no guessing from a number online.

If your neighborhood has an HOA or deed restrictions, worth checking before we build, and we'll set the pit to whatever clearances apply. Most pits go in alongside other work, so the stone matches an outdoor kitchen or the rest of the patio, one crew, one timeline.

What our clients say

Lalo is super knowledgeable and helpful. He's always answered all my questions and been my go-to guy for anything pool related. Can't recommend him enough.

Homeowner, Dallas TX

These guys did our whole pool retile in four days. Showed up on time every morning, cleaned up every evening. The pool looks better than when it was new.

Homeowner, Plano TX

We've used Lalo's on three builds now. They just get it done. No drama, no excuses. That's hard to find with subs.

Pool Builder, DFW

Lalo came out himself to look at our coping. Didn't try to upsell us on stuff we didn't need. Just told us what needed fixing and gave us a fair price.

Homeowner, Fort Worth TX

Had another company do our tile and it started falling off after one summer. Lalo's crew came in, tore it out, and redid the whole thing. Should have called them first.

Homeowner, Garland TX

Honest people, quality work. That's it. That's the review.

FAQ

Fire Pits in Dallas, answered

Most Dallas homeowners pick natural gas. Gas service is already at most inner-loop houses, so the line run is simple, and you flip a key to light it. Wood-burning fits the larger Preston Hollow and Bluffview lots with room to keep the fire well clear of the house and fence. We build both and will tell you which suits your yard.

It depends on size, the stone you pick, and whether you add a seat wall. A freestanding gas fire table sits at the lower end, and a built-in pit with a custom stone surround costs more. We come measure your yard and give you a fixed price at the free estimate, so you know the real number for your space, not a range.

Running a new gas line is the part that can require a permit and a licensed plumber, which we coordinate. The fire pit itself usually doesn't in the older Dallas neighborhoods, but Preston Hollow deed restrictions and newer HOA developments can have rules on placement and fuel. If your neighborhood has an HOA, check before we build, and we'll set the pit to whatever clearances apply.

The surround is natural limestone, travertine, stacked stone, or concrete pavers, matched to your existing patio. The fire sits in a steel burner pan set so the stone never takes the flame directly. That separation and proper footing are what keep a Dallas pit from cracking through the freeze-thaw swing.

We build the stone and masonry, and a licensed plumber runs and connects the gas line from your existing service. On most Dallas lots the line is already at the house, so the run is short. We coordinate the plumber so it lands as one finished job we schedule for you.
