Patios in Flower Mound by Lalo's Tile & Coping

Flower Mound patios come from two kinds of backyards: established homes in Bridlewood and Wellington with a tired slab that's cracked or heaved and needs replacing, and newer builds going in near Lakeside DFW with a raw yard waiting for a real outdoor space.

The base is what decides whether a patio lasts. Flower Mound sits on the rockier, more uneven ground of the Cross Timbers belt, mixed with clay that swells when wet and pulls back when dry, and a patio set straight on it heaves through winter and settles through summer. Skip the prep and the joints open and the edges lift within a few seasons.

We build patios for both kinds of yards. We dig out the soft soil, compact crushed stone in lifts, and pitch the surface so water drains away from the house, then set pavers or natural stone on top of that base. Pavers suit a big open yard where you want a clean field that takes furniture and can be reset unit by unit if a spot ever settles. Natural stone fits the wooded, established lots where it reads at home against the brick. We bring samples to the house before anything is set.

A patio is usually the floor of a larger space. Flower Mound's bigger lots leave real room for it, and we tie it into a fire pit or outdoor fireplace, an outdoor kitchen along one side, or a retaining wall where the lot grades off toward the trees.

What our clients say

Lalo is super knowledgeable and helpful. He's always answered all my questions and been my go-to guy for anything pool related. Can't recommend him enough.

Homeowner, Dallas TX

These guys did our whole pool retile in four days. Showed up on time every morning, cleaned up every evening. The pool looks better than when it was new.

Homeowner, Plano TX

We've used Lalo's on three builds now. They just get it done. No drama, no excuses. That's hard to find with subs.

Pool Builder, DFW

Lalo came out himself to look at our coping. Didn't try to upsell us on stuff we didn't need. Just told us what needed fixing and gave us a fair price.

Homeowner, Fort Worth TX

Had another company do our tile and it started falling off after one summer. Lalo's crew came in, tore it out, and redid the whole thing. Should have called them first.

Homeowner, Garland TX

Honest people, quality work. That's it. That's the review.

FAQ

Patios in Flower Mound, answered

Only if the base is wrong, and that's where most failures here start. The Cross Timbers ground under a lot of Flower Mound is rockier and less even than flat clay soil elsewhere, and mature tree roots move things further. We excavate the soft soil, compact crushed stone, and pitch the surface to drain, which keeps a patio flat through it.

Sometimes, but on the older Bridlewood and Wellington slabs we usually advise against it. If the slab has already cracked or sunk, it's moved once and will move again, and a new surface laid over it inherits that. We'd rather pull it, build a proper compacted base, and set the new patio on something that holds.

Pavers give you a clean, large field that holds up to furniture and foot traffic and can be reset unit by unit, which suits Flower Mound's bigger lots. Natural stone reads more traditional and fits the established, wooded lots. We bring samples to the house so you can see both against your home.

Yes. We're building a lot of the patio and stonework scope on the new construction going in near the lake, matched to whatever pool and kitchen stone is going in alongside it.
